Tanzania is a country which has more than one hundred tribes with each tribe having its own tradition and culture. The biggest tribes can be found in Northern Tanzania like Sukuma Tribe, Maasai Tribe, Nyamwezi Tribe and Chagga from Kilimanjaro. Due to different tribes in the country Tanzania introduced Swahili as the national language which has been spoken since Tanzania got its independence from our first president Julius Kambarage Nyerere. Swahili is nowadays the national language in all East African countries but still many of the Tanzanian people speak their tribal language and practice their traditional life. The Maasai speak Maa and are pastoralists, the Handzabe speak the click language and are a hunting tribe, the Datoga speak Datoga and are blacksmiths. During your trip to Tanzania you can get the chance to visit some of our tribes, for example: The Maasai tribe living with their livestock and wild animals around them The Chagga living at the bottom of Mount Kilimanjaro spending their daily life on their coffee plantations The Hadzabe, known as the bushmen, who hunt every day to get their daily food
